A leading international toy retailer needs to create a file distribution system between its international headquarters and global hubs. The required solution must provide:
§ Simple configuration
§ User friendly interface
§ Scalability
§ Secure transport
§ Bandwidth control
The recommended solution comprises an automated file transfer distribution system based on FEST and FASTCopy technologies.
FEST will be installed in each international hub. Every hub will have an outgoing directory and an incoming directory. Under the outgoing directory, there will be a sub-directory for every other hub that exists in the system. FASTCopy will automatically forward any files introduced into this directory to the recipient hubs.
When the files arrive at the target, FASTCopy will automatically create the specified target path on the target hub (if it doesn’t exist) and send an e-mail to the recipient, notifying him/her of the location of the files.
The customer’s existing network transfers data over lines ranging from 16-128 kbps, as illustrated below. The need for bandwidth control – a FASTCopy feature - is paramount, since the current method of FTP transfer chokes the available bandwidth.

In the proposed solution, files dropped into a newly created
FEST “Hot” directory at the
When the files arrive in the specified target directory, an e-mail will be sent to Joe.Smith@toy.com notifying him of the arrival and location of the transferred files.
The solution satisfies the following requirements:
§ Simple configuration. A one-time setup of the outgoing directory by the system administrator. No additional re-configuring work is needed when adding or removing users.
§ User friendly interface. Users send and receive files with the familiar explorer interface.
§ Scalability. The solution is not restricted to any number of senders, recipients, or hubs.
§ Security. The solution will allow Server / Client authentication and encryption using SSL.
§ Bandwidth. Can be controlled globally for each hub.
