"Invalid license checksum" error

Question:

I received the error:

FCOPY-E-LICERR, license error encountered
-LICENSE-E-INVAL, invalid license checksum

What does it mean?

Answer:

A checksum is found at the first line of each SoftLink license, and will only match the original license it was generated from. If the license body was changed in any way, the checksum will not match it anymore and no FASTCopy operations will be permitted. Ensure that the license was not modified in any way during installation - this includes adding / removing new line characters. The easiest way to ensure this is to copy / paste the license from the e-mail received from SoftLink Support into the appropriate location.

On Windows machines licenses are found by default in:
C:\Program Files\SoftLink\Licenses\lic_*.* (FASTCopy V2.65 and higher, FEST V2.1 and higher)
C:\Program Files\SoftLink\lic_*.* (All other versions)

On UNIX machines, licenses are found by default in:
/usr/flogic/license/lic_* (FASTCopy V2.65 and higher)
/usr/flogic/lic_* (All other versions)
