LiteCopy lets designated users securely transfer files to, from or within
your organization using a standard Java enabled Web browser. All the user requires is the LiteCopy
Web Client URL and the IP address of LiteCopy Server, both of which reside in your organization.
User permissions are centrally configured according to the needs of your organization using
the intuitive LiteCopy Manager GUI.
Total Control over LiteCopy Clients
LiteCopy administrators create configurations for permitted transfer operations and then add users to
one or more of the configurations. Once a user has been added to a configuration, he or she will be able
to select it using the LiteCopy Web Client.
For each user, LiteCopy administrators are able to determine whether the user will be able to upload
or download files, restrict access to specific source/target directories and confine the user to
predefined files or file types. For example, one user may be able to freely browse the source and target
directories while other may be restricted to predefined directories.
The LiteCopy administrator can even decide to hide all directory and file specifications from the user,
should such a need arise. This way, when the user selects the operation in the LiteCopy Web Client,
the only property visible would be the operation type - upload or download.
Other LiteCopy features include:
- Dedicated LiteCopy user name and password - no need to create system accounts
or allocate system user names and passwords.
- Enhanced client authentication using the common name field of the client's certificate.
- Ability to force the user to use a secure connection (SSL) - requires a server certificate
to be installed on the IIS server.
- User expiry date - users are automatically disabled after the expiry date.
- Groups - LiteCopy administrators can create a group as a way of conveniently
assigning the same permissions to several users.
- Server root directory - browsing can be restricted to a root directory
or its subdirectories.
- Include subdirectories (recursion) - enables users to automatically transfer all
files in the selected directory's subdirectories that match the specified source files/file types.
- Monitoring- Using LiteCopy Manager, LiteCopy administrators are able to view which users
are connected to LiteCopy Server at any one time and which operations (configurations) each user
is performing. Detailed reports of LiteCopy operations are also displayed on History Monitor,
SoftLink's audit trail monitoring utility.
