FASTCopy Scheduling

FASTCopy  operations can be sent for automatic execution by a batch daemon. This batch daemon enables the scheduling and automatic recovery of FASTCopy operations. When FASTCopy is invoked in batch mode, it submits itself for execution under the batch daemon. Control is then returned immediately to the user together with a unique job number that identifies that FASTCopy batch operation.

The batch daemon is responsible for activating the FASTCopy  operation at the desired time, checking its completion status, activating recovery attempts (if necessary) with the specified time interval between them, and for the activation of any exit command specified where the FASTCopy operation stops (either because of successful termination or because of an error).

Options in Batch Mode:

Once FASTCopy is invoked in batch mode (with the BATCH qualifier), there are several options you can use to control the way the batch daemon will handle the FASTCopy operation:

Scheduled execution time - When you send a FASTCopy operation to the batch daemon, it can be scheduled to execute at any predetermined time. You can also specify a termination time for the operation: If it is not successfully completed by that time, it will abort.
Time between recovery attempts - You can specify how long the batch daemon should wait between successive recovery attempts.
Maximum number of retries - You can specify a maximum number of recovery attempts that the batch daemon will carry out on the submitted FASTCopy operation. If it fails to recover the operation successfully after this number of attempts, the operation will be aborted and an error message generated.
Post Transfer Processing and completion status report - FASTCopy allows you to link the activation of a task to a transfer operation, so that the task is considered complete only when the task is successfully executed. When operating in batch mode, you can specify a task to be activated upon the termination of the transfer operation, whether successful or not, with the EXIT_COMMAND qualifier. The transfer operation is considered terminated for the purpose of the task activation only after all specified recovery attempts have been carried out.
One of the uses of this task is to notify another application, operating asynchronously, of FASTCopy's operation completion status.
